R. T. Keating's Obituary
R.T. Keating, 80, passed from this life to the next on Friday, April 21, 2006 at his home in Covington. He was the beloved husband of Dottie Schmidt Keating; the father of four children and their spouses: a daughter Charlotte K. Joiner wife of/and Herbert Joiner, a daughter Linda K. Fussell wife of/and Glenn Fussell, a son Rodney Keating and wife Karen and a son Randall Keating and wife Leslie. He will be dearly missed by his nine grandchildren: Joshua, Justin and Jeffery Joiner; Christopher and Alicia Fussell, Amanda, Lauren and Robert “Tyler” Keating and Sarah Keating. He will also be missed by three sisters; Edith K. Flores and Camille K. Reeves both of Covington; Lilly Bell Bellamy of Florence, SC; and one brother Emmett Keating of Ferriday, LA. R.T. was predeceased by his parents Uriah F. and Minnie Dyess Keating; two sisters Vernie K. Sharp and Ollie K. Walker; four brothers Victor, Alvin, Jimmy Keating and Earl Buford. R.T. served his Country in both the Korean Conflict and WW II and was retired from the State of Louisiana Department of Highways. His life was centered around his Family and especially on his nine grandchildren. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to one of the three congregations that he loved and shared his life with: New Zion Baptist Church, Fitzgerald United Methodist Church or Shepherd’s Care Ministries. Visitation for relatives and friends will be Monday, April 24, 2006 from 6:00-8:00 PM at New Zion Baptist Church, 17287 New Zion Church Rd., Covington, LA 70435, followed by a service of remembrance at 8 PM with the Rev. Kris Chenier officiating. A private interment service will be held at the New Zion Baptist Church Cemetery.
