R. Grant Straight's Obituary
R. Grant Straight was born on July 14, 1932, in Decatur, Arkansas. He died peacefully at his home in Covington, Louisiana, on November 8, 2025.
The second of three children, Grant was born to Harry and Bessie Straight. He graduated from Will Rogers High School in Tulsa, Oklahoma, where he was a star athlete, setting track records that remained unbroken for many decades.
Grant proudly served his country in both the Navy Reserves and the U.S. Army. Upon leaving the service, he began a long and illustrious career with Exxon, where, in addition to his regular duties there, he also gained recognition as an outstanding artist.
Preceding him in death were his beloved wife of almost 50 years, Janice Hankins Straight; his parents Harry and Bessie Hatfield Straight of Tulsa, Oklahoma; and his brother Wayne Straight of Las Vegas, Nevada.
Grant is survived by his sister Silvia Moltman of Alpine, California, nieces and nephews, and his sisters-in-law Ann Hankins and Kay Hankins Cagle, both of Eatonton (Lake Oconee), Georgia.
In lieu of flowers, remembrances may be made to a favorite charity or to any local animal shelter or to the ASPCA.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend the funeral service at 2:00 PM on Thursday, November 13, 2025, at E.J. Fielding Funeral Home, 2260 West 21st Avenue, Covington, Louisiana, with visitation beginning at 1:00 PM. Interment will follow in the adjacent Pinecrest Memorial Gardens Mausoleum.
