Dear Henderson family members: While I still a young lawyer up here in Shreveport I was defending a case where a ceiling fan dropped onto the head of a young mother while she watched television in her home on an Army base, causing her to suffer some degree of brain damage. I pointed the finger at the manufacturer and installer, they pointed the finger at the Army (my client), and Phil pointed the finget at the three of us. That was one of my very first cases to defend, and as a result of Phil's skillful handling, I learned that my witnesses don't always tell the truth! He was brilliant, but more importantly, he was a fierce advocate for his client whose life had been dramatically worsened through no fault of her own. His efforts made her financially secure, and he did so exhibiting such professionalism that I have never forgotten him. While he certainly "took me to school" on that case, he helped teach me how to be gracious in a profession where its members are not generally recognized as such. My sympathies and prayers are extended to what must be a great family because they were undoubtedly influenced by a great man. Sincerely, John A. Broadwell, Bossier City, Louisiana.
