Philip was an employee of the Louisiana Department of Agriculture & Forestry as a Wildland Firefighter. He returned to work seasonally for another ten years after his original retirement for a total of over 40 years. He was the type of employee that may not exist in todays world. He was dedicated and had initiative like none other. He loved his family and his smile will be missed. As a young forester I always knew that when Dosie asked me a question like he often did, I had better know that he probably already new the answer, he was just checking to see if I knew the answer.

My condolences to this great family. They're two memories that I have of Mr. Dosie. The first one is of walking his place as a boy and having him identify every tree in the area. Man he could spend all day talking about trees. The second was of a fishing trip that Wade and I made where we had caught some garfish. We had about three fish about 60-70 pounds each, Dosie went and got a little bitty rod and reel and had us take pictures of him next to the fish. He wanted to show AC what he had caught. We took the picture and he had the biggest, slyest grin on his face. I'll always cherish the time that I spent with him and his family. Best wishes in this difficult time.
