Phil Koine Jr.'s Obituary
Phil Koine, Jr. departed this world on Tuesday, December 20, 2016 at the age of 50.
He was the beloved longtime companion and soulmate of Cheryl Garza Delorette and stepfather of Lee Delorette. He leaves behind his beloved mother, Susan Koine, and father, Philip Koine, Sr. (Carol), sisters Jennifer Koine Davies, and Kelly Koine Louque (T.J.), and stepsister, Cheri Poche, his Godparents Paulette Koine Mauterer and Jay Schmitt, Aunts Lisa Schmitt Silver (David) and Barbara Schmitt Cruthirds (Charlie), as well as numerous uncles, cousins, nieces, and nephews. Preceded in death by paternal grandparents, Paul and Rosemary Koine, and maternal grandparents Adolph Joseph Schmitt and Leatrice Van Schmitt.
Phil was a self-taught, talented musician who started his first band, Eden, in his friend’s garage. He continued to play and love music with his band Full Circle up until the time of his death. He mentored many local musicians, instilling in them his passion for music. The only thing more important to Phil than his music was his love for Cheryl, Lee, and his family and friends. He was a gentle man with a contagious smile, and heart of gold. He never lost the little boy wonder and remained a child at heart.
Even though Phil is no longer with us, we will never forget him and all the joy he has given so many. If there is a Rock band in heaven, they just got a great bass player, keyboard player and singer.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend the memorial services at E.J. Fielding Funeral Home, 2260 W. 21st Avenue, Covington, LA 70433 on Thursday, December 29, 2016 at 3:00 PM with visitation on Thursday beginning at 1:00 PM.
Interment will follow in Pinecrest Memorial Gardens.
