Petra Santiago's Obituary
Petra “Mami” Santiago, age 85, of Abita Springs, LA passed away peacefully in her home, surrounded by her loving family on Monday, November 13, 2017. She was born, Friday, January 15, 1932 in Corozal, Puerto Rico to Demetrio Nieves and Gregoria Garcia Nieves. Mami enjoyed spending time with her family, traveling to Puerto Rico, cooking famous Puerto Rican dishes, going to the casino with her girls, watching her telenovas, dancing to Spanish music, and laughter.
Mami is survived by her Daughters - Doris Riser, Betty S. Morris, Evelyn Burks, Edith S. Alford; Sons - Illuminado Santiago, Jr., Louis Santiago, Hector Juan Santiago Echevarria, Tony Echevarria Santiago; Brother - Demetrio Nieves. She is also survived by 21 grandchildren, numerous great-grandchildren, multiple great-great-grandchildren and a host of other relatives in Puerto Rico.
She was predeceased by her Husband - Illuminado Santiago, Sr.; Father - Demetrio Nieves; Mother - Gregoria Garcia Nieves; Sister - America Nieves; Brothers - Abraham Garcia, Juan Nieves, Maximo Nieves.

Relatives and friends are invited to attend a Mass at 11:00 AM on Saturday, November 18, 2017 at E. J. Fielding Funeral Home, 2260 West 21st Avenue Covington, LA 70433.
Visitation on Saturday, November 18, 2017 from 9:00 AM to service time.
Interment in Pinecrest Memorial Gardens Covington, LA.
