My sincere condolences. I only came to know Pete fairly recently. He first came to my office about 5 or 6 years ago, when he got tired of filling out his own tax forms. I soon found him to be one of my sharpest clients, possessing an agile mind which it seemed he had not lost a step of right up to the last time I saw him, shortly before he moved south.
Once, when our meeting ran longer than expected, he insisted on treating me to lunch, a rarity in today's world. We discovered our mutual love of travel over the minestrone, and the lunch ended up running longer than the meeting.
He seemed a real old-school gentleman. A man to be proud of.
I am so sorry to hear about Pete's death, and also shocked. I cleaned Pete and Dorothy's house for several years, only just quitting a year ago to start a full time job. A friend of mine took over after me and I was able to keep up with them and called them from time to time. When I talked to Pete he was so happy to be moving to LA to be closer to his kids and was excited to be starting a new life at his age. It was not what he foresaw happening at this time of his life, but was able to adapt and look forward to this next phase of his life, I was so happy for him. The tragic events were so regretable, but I knew that he had children that loved him and would take care of him. My condolences to all of you and his grandchildren. I know he had happiness in his life and joy in his heart.
Just want you to know that Pete and all of you are in my prayers.
