Peggy Hale Cowin's Obituary
Peggy Hale Cowin, formerly a longtime resident of Manhasset, NY, passed away on October 11, 2007 at her home in Covington, LA.
She was born Peggy White Hale in 1930 on Long Meadow Farm in Russellville, TN. Mrs. Cowin was a graduate of the University of Tennessee with a Bachelor of Arts degree in Journalism. After graduation, she moved to New York City to pursue a career in public relations with RCA Victor Records. After meeting and marrying her husband, David M. Cowin, they lived in Philadelphia, PA and moved to Manhasset, NY in 1960. Mrs. Cowin was involved in several civic organizations and served as the President of the Manhasset School Community Association, the Association for the Help of Retarded Children, and the North Shore Southern Society. She was also an active and devoted member of the First Congregational Church of Manhasset. Mrs. Cowin had a life-long passion for politics and served as a Republican Committeewoman and spearheaded voter registration for the Flower Hill voting district for many years.
Mrs. Cowin was predeceased by her husband of 49 years. Surviving are her sons Dr. David H. Cowin of Ridgefield, CT and Robert Nelson Cowin of Covington, LA, and four grandchildren, Jessica H. Cowin, David H. Cowin, William P. Cowin and John M. Cowin.
A private family memorial service will be held in Tennessee at a later date.
