Paula Hollingsworth Meyer's Obituary
Paula Hollingsworth Meyer passed away on Saturday August 7, 2021 at the age of 66. Beloved wife of Terrance L. “Terry” “Tree” Meyer for 36 years. Loving mother of Christopher J. Meyer and Michael T. Meyer, loving daughter of Sadie Rose Fox, loving sister of Russ Hollingsworth, also survived by loving sister in law Chris Hollingsworth, loving brothers in law Milton Meyer and David J. Meyer, also survived by loving sister in law Melinda Meyer, loving mother in law of Naomi Meyer and several nieces and nephews.
Paula is preceded in death by her father, James Hollingsworth.
Paula attended high school in Decatur, Illinois where she graduated from Dwight D. Eisenhower High School in 1973. She went on to attend the University of Southern Mississippi and Delgado University. She graduated with two degrees in American Sign Language and spent her life working with hearing impaired children in Orleans and St. Tammany Parishes. Along the way she made life long friendships with former students whom she cherished.
Paula was truly a beautiful, kind, religious and fun loving person. She had closeness and a love for the Lord and her family that was clearly demonstrated in her willingness to serve others. Her life and love revolved around her family. Paula will be eternally missed and remembered with love and admiration.
Paula was an old soul. She would much rather write a 2 page letter to someone than pick up a phone. It just doesn’t have the same feel or meaning she would say.
Some of her hobbies were gardening, bird watching, reading and making crafts with needle point, cross-stitch and by sewing. She loved making her crafts and giving them to friends and family. Mailing the gifts on time is another story. It was not out of the ordinary that Paula would send a birthday gift 4 to 5 months late. (Everyone liked this because they would get unexpected gifts months after their birthday.) She was a wonderful cook also. I know her father in law and her are already having heavenly cook-offs.
Paula touched the lives of so many during her years that while her passing is sorrowful, her life and legacy will be celebrated.
