Paula Wascom Boyce's Obituary
Paula Wascom Boyce passed away in Covington on Friday, November 14. She was born on October 5, 1946, at home in Folsom, LA. She is survived by her two daughters Kimberly Sharp Kifer and Kellie Sharp Sousa; grandchildren Kevin Kifer, Kristen Kifer Elston, Logan Lewis, and Kelsey Lewis; great grandchildren Lainey and Isaac, and her sister Judy Loyde. She was preceded in death by her parents Charlie and Ola McKee Wascom and her brother, Charles Lamar Wascom.
Paula graduated from Covington High School and attended Southeastern Louisiana University, studying vocal music and participating in the SLU Concert Choir. She sang in church choirs wherever she lived, including First Baptist Church of Folsom, New Zion Baptist Church, First Baptist Church Mandeville, and First Baptist Church of Covington. Paula had a lengthy career as a medical transcriptionist, transcribing medical records for St. Tammany Hospital, St. Jude Hospital in Kenner, and East Jefferson Hospital. She continued transcribing electronically at home for hospitals all over the country until her health prevented her from doing so.
Paula passionately loved her grandchildren, who called her “Mam-Maw” and her two great grandchildren. All you had to do was look at the pictures saved on her phone, and 90% of them were of these, her favorites.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend a joint funeral service for Paula, and her brother, Retired Colonel, Charles Lamar Wascom at 2:00 PM on Monday, December 1, 2025, at The Chapel at First Baptist Church Covington, 16054 Murphy Road, Covington, LA with visitation beginning at 1:00 PM until service time. Lamar passed away during the height of COVID and no services were held. Interment will follow at First Baptist Church Folsom Cemetery, 13320 Broadway Street, Folsom, LA.
The family would like to thank Dr. Groves and his efficient staff, and St. Tammany Home Health and the nurses who not only provided faithful needed health services but became her friends.
E. J. Fielding Funeral Home has been entrusted with the arrangements. Please sign the online guestbook at https://www.ejfieldingfh.com.
