Paul Peter Desselle II's Obituary
It is with profound sadness, we announce the passing of Paul Peter Desselle II, our loving and devoted grandfather, father, and friend, on October 2, 2021. He left us peacefully, surrounded by family at his home in Abita Springs, Louisiana. Paul was 67 years of age. He was born in New Orleans, Louisiana on July 30, 1954 to the late Paul Peter Desselle Sr. and Beryl Bordelon Desselle.
He is survived by his beloved wife of 48 years, Kim White Desselle. He was the loving father of Christy Desselle Salomon (Honald) and Beth Desselle Ables (Bryan), and caregiver and provider to Scott White (Lori), Stacey White Champagne (Mark), and Nicole White Campbell (Scott). He was the proud grandfather of Halie Ables, Alyssa Salomon De La Cruz, Matthew Williams, Ally Salomon, Ethan Ables, and Colton Campbell, and great-grandfather to Elijah De LaCruz. Paul was the oldest brother of David Desselle, Thomas Desselle, and Joseph Desselle.
Paul is preceded in death by his parents Paul Peter Desselle Sr. and Beryl Bordelon Desselle, and his great grandmother Minnie Bordelon.
He lived a full life as a wonderful father, grandfather, brother, colleague, Airman, and friend.
A native of New Orleans, longtime resident of Avondale over 30 years, Bayou Gauche, and resident of Abita Springs, Paul graduated from West Jefferson High School. After high school, he proudly joined the United States Air Force, and faithfully served his country for 6 years. After being honorably discharged, Paul began his professional career in commercial construction for 45 years.
Paul became the monarch of his family at just the age of 17. His love for his family made him a great leader, provider, and an excellent caregiver to his younger brothers. In his early 20’s, Paul and his wife Kim experienced the loss of Kim’s parents within 18 months apart. Kim’s younger siblings adjoined the Desselle family. Paul welcomed, provided, and cared for them as his own.
Paul was family-oriented, loyal, hard-working, devoted, and courageous. He was talented in wood-working and especially cherished building gifts for his family. Paul enjoyed spending time outdoors fishing and working in the yard. Paul was well-respected, loved and will be deeply and dearly missed by all who had the privilege of knowing him.
