Patsy “Marlene” Smith Passed away peacefully on Saturday, April 20, 2024 at her residence surrounded by her loving family. She was 84. She was a native of Decatur, GA and for many years a full time resident of Pilottown, LA until Read Obituary
I remember, quite fondly, all those game nights at our house. She taught us how to play Mexican Train Dominoes. Ok, she taught us how to lose😉. She was the game master!
One of my treasured memories is a night Bubbie, Bruce, Mama, John, Sarah, and I were playing Cards Against Humanity and she would come up with the best (a.k.a. naughtiest) card pairs! She had us all laughing so hard our sides ached.
She always made me smile. She spoke so kindly to us. Her love so generous and genuine. Her laugh was infectious and none could resist her charm.
I felt “adopted” by her the very first time we met. She just came right in with the biggest smile and tightest hug! You know, the Mama bear hug with her arms around you tight and always ending with that gentle tap of her fingers on your back as if to say, “it’s all going to be okay.”

Marlene is my older sister. When I was a baby, she loved me like I was hers. As we aged, she still included me in her life. When Marlene gave birth to her children, I loved them like they were my own and still do. When I needed help with our parents, she was there. We became more like friends than sisters. When she needed care, her children and their children surrounded her and made her old age worth living. She would still check on her siblings and make us feel loved and before we said goodnight, you could hear the sobs in her voice. Only because she hated to say goodbye. Her whole family will miss her sweet spirit till our days are done. I wish my extended family comfort and continued love. You all did your utmost for her. Sissy
Love you mawmaw and miss you so much more! The picture I posted is from a soap opera I'm pretty sure it's called "the young and the restless" but we'd have countless hours of tv watching no cartoons no baseball just soaps
