Patrick Terrance Comiskey Jr.'s Obituary
Patrick Terrance Comiskey, Jr. passed away peacefully on July 26, 2022. He was born May 21, 1926 in his mother’s bedroom at 308 W. Waco Street in Ennis, Texas. After his father died at an early age, he started working at age 12 years old with a paper route and continued working at a local dairy and also as a call boy at the railroad until he graduated high school. He served in the United States Army during World War II in the 1st Calvary Division stationed in the Asia Pacific in New Guinea, Philippines and Tokyo until 1949. He attended University of Texas, achieving a degree in Chemical Engineering and worked for Freeport McMoran Sulphur Company for thirty-six years doing sales engineering, sales marketing and buying sulphur for resale, retiring as VP of the Division. He traveled extensively around the world visiting several countries in South America and Africa, Saudi Arabia, India, Japan, Korea, Australia, New Zealand, Poland, Tunisia and most of Europe. He met and married the love of his life, Edna Schusterman in 1958 while in New York and they shared 56 years together; she passed away in 2014. They lived in Connecticut about twenty years, Tchefuncta Estates for several years and later at Christwood Retirement Community. Pat and Edna bought their first house on Oaklawn Drive in Covington in 1975 and he served on the Tchefuncta Estates Board for several years. After serving on the board, he also served as Chairman of Public Works and President of the Estates Board. He was then elected to the Country Club Board where he served as Greens Chairman and then also elected President. Pat was an avid golfer, bird watcher and long time member of the Saint Anselm Catholic Church in Madisonville, Louisiana. He and Edna loved their dogs with the most recent Mr. Hobo having shared 17 years with Pat and Edna.
Pat is preceded in death by his wife, Edna Comiskey; his father, Patrick T. Comiskey; his mother, Christina Joly Comiskey; sister, Dorothy Penney and husband, Joe; sister, Mary Eleanor Ludwig and husband, Herbert; brother, Eugene Comiskey and wife, Dorothy; brother, William Comiskey; sister Barbara Kelsey and husband, David; sister in law, Brenda Comiskey; sister in law, Rosella O’Reilly and husband Charles; and brothers in law, John O’Reilly, Robert O’Reilly and James O’Reilly. Pat is survived by brother, Glenn Comiskey; brother, Paul Wayne Comiskey; brother, Jerry Comiskey and wife, Kevin; sister, Theresa O’Hayre and husband Harold and sister in law, Annie Comiskey. He is survived by a large family of numerous nieces, nephews, great nieces and nephews across the US. Pat’s family is grateful to the residents and staff at Christwood Retirement Community and the At Home companion caregivers who took such great care of both Pat and Edna.
A service honoring Pat’s life will be held on Saturday, August 6, 2022 at St. Anselm Church, 306 St. Mary Street, Madisonville beginning at 11:00 AM followed by a Mass of Christian burial at noon. Interment will then be in Pinecrest Memorial Gardens, 2280 West 21st Avenue, Covington. A Celebration of Life will immediately follow in the Atrium Room at Christwood Retirement Community.
