Patricia Cross Shelton's Obituary
Patricia Ann Cross Shelton passed away peacefully on Tuesday, January 28, 2025. Patricia was born in Bessimer, AL on January 25, 1939 to Andrew J Cross and Mary Cardwell Barr. She lived in many places throughout her life and enjoyed cheering on sports teams from all the states where she resided. Most notably Alabama, Texas and LSU by marriage. She met her beloved husband of 53 years, L.B. Shelton Jr. (Larry), at Fort Hood in Texas. They married in January 1959 and later had 2 sons that were the center of her universe.
Patricia is survived by her sisters Debbie and Stephen McLain and family, and Karen and David Adkins and family; Daughter-in-law, Terry Shelton; grandchildren and spouses, Joshua and Jordan Shelton, Casey and Mitchell Malone; Great grandchildren, Melah and Grant Shelton and Emilia Malone; and lifelong friend, Gaye Willet.
Preceded in death by her husband, L.B. "Larry" Shelton, Jr.; Sons, Lawrence Benjamin "Benjie" Shelton III and Andrew Dale Shelton; parents, Andrew Jackson Cross and Mary C Barr; Sister and niece, Andrea and Robin Evans. Father-in-law Lawrence Benjamin Shelton, Sr.; Mother-in-law, Josephine Angelo Shelton; sister-in-law, Bessie Morgan; brother-in-law, Alfred "A.J." Loga.
Patricia was a proud resident of Port Vincent and Denham Springs for over 20 years, but her heart always remained in Covington, LA where she was well known in the community and raised her family. She graduated from Killeen High School. She enjoyed spending time tending to her plants and could nurture any plant back to life. She was a member of the Rainbow Girls. However, her greatest joy in life was being a proud wife, mother and grandmother. She loved family and friends very deeply. Patricia was unique and irreplaceable. She will be deeply and dearly missed by all who knew and loved her. Her legacy will live on in the many memories of her cherished friends and family until they meet her again.
The family expresses their deepest gratitude to the care provided by Harvest Manor Nursing Home.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend the funeral service at E. J. Fielding Funeral Home, 2260 W 21st Avenue, Covington, LA 70433 on Tuesday, February 4, 2025 at 3pm with visitation beginning at 1pm until service time. Interment will take place following the service at Pinecrest Memorial Gardens, W. 21st Street, Covington, LA 70433.
