Patricia Schaeffer McDougal's Obituary
Patricia “Patsy” Schaeffer McDougal passed away on Wednesday, September 27, 2023. She was born in New Orleans, LA on September 13, 1946.
Patsy is survived by her loving husband of 57 years, Patrick Wayne McDougal; her three children, Cherie McDougal Herchenhahn (Tim), Scott Patrick McDougal (Caryn), and Christy McDougal Laine (Michael); her seven grandchildren, James Patrick Faucheux III, Ryan Patrick McDougal, Lexie Nicole Laine, Emily Rose McDougal, Macee Laila Laine, Camryn Elizabeth McDougal, and Catherine Ann McDougal; one great-grandchild, Brayden James Faucheux. She is also survived by her two siblings, Sandra Schaeffer Kyle and Milton “Butch” Schaeffer Jr (Kathy), and her many nieces, nephews, cousins, and wonderful lifelong friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents Doris Nelson Schaeffer Galatas and Milton Paul Schaeffer Sr.; stepfather Maurice Dudley Galatas and nephew, Kevin Paul Kyle.
Patsy will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved her.
Patsy graduated from Chalmette High School, married the love of her life and raised her family in Chalmette, LA. She and her husband relocated to Madisonville, LA after Hurricane Katrina. Patsy enjoyed spending time with her family and friends, going to church with her husband and cooking for the family on Sundays, especially “Mimi’s” Spaghetti and meat sauce for all her grandkids. Vacations with her entire family was what she enjoyed the most. Although she is no longer with us on this earth, the memory of her will leave a beacon of light for all of us.
The McDougal family expresses their deepest gratitude to the care provided by St. Tammany Parish Hospital Hospice.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend the Funeral Mass at St. Anselm Catholic Church, 306 St. Mary St., Madisonville, LA 70447 on Monday, October 2, 2023, at 11:00 AM with visitation at church on Monday beginning at 9:00 AM. Interment will follow in Pinecrest Memorial Gardens.
