Patricia O'Brien Donahue's Obituary
Patricia O’Brien Donahue, “Patty,” from Covington, Louisiana, passed away on May 28, 2026, surrounded by her family. Born March 22, 1954, Patty was the daughter of the late Eugene and Nelda O’Brien. Patty grew up in Sibley, Louisiana, and attended Minden High School and Northwestern State University.
In college, Patty met the love of her life, Art Donahue. They married June 5, 1976, and lived out the next 50 years together. Art and Patty have three children they adore: Brad Donahue and wife Kellie, Kelli Stewart and husband Scott, and Matt Donahue and wife Brittany. Patty was a devoted wife, mother, and school teacher, but she would say she found her true calling in being a grandmother to her 12 amazing grandchildren.
Patty was a fiercely loyal friend who loved her friends like family – with her whole heart.
Patty’s only love greater than her love for her family and friends was her love for Jesus. She would say that her 60 year walk with Him was her greatest gift. He was her anchor, her father, her saviour, her best friend! Jesus was the greatest legacy she wanted to leave for her children and grandchildren. Patty lived with the purpose of making sure that her grandchildren knew how special Jesus was in her life. Patty never grew tired of telling them all they need is Jesus. Until her dying breath, she pointed her family to the cross. Patty lived her life anchored in Christ.
Patty fought a very private, four year battle with cancer because she didn’t want others to worry or to be sad. She knew what was waiting for her in eternity.
Patty fought the good fight, she finished the race, and her Father in heaven has received her with open arms saying, “Well done, my good and faithful servant.”
Relatives and friends are invited to attend the funeral services on Tuesday, June 9, 2026, at 11:00 AM at The Chapel at First Baptist Church of Covington, 16054 Murphy Road, Covington, Louisiana, with visitation beginning at 10:00 AM. Interment will follow in St. Joseph Abbey Cemetery, 75376 River Road, St. Benedict, Louisiana.
