Pat Mitchell Mathies' Obituary
Patricia Mitchell “Pat” Mathies passed away on Sunday, November 4, 2018 in Mandeville, LA. She was born on April 19, 1939 in New Orleans, LA to the late James Renelton Mitchell, Sr. and Irma Rita Marange Mitchell.
Pat was married to her beloved husband, Joseph Victor Mathies, Sr., for 60 years. She was the loving mother of Donald A. Mathies (Patty), Karen M. Kety (Temo), Barbara Mathies, Betty Mathies, and the late Joseph V. Mathies, Jr. Pat was the proud grandmother of Daniel Mathies (Colleen), Marc Mathies, and Ryan Mathies; Cyrus Kety, Marcus Kety, and Jonas Kety; Lisa M. Hernandez (David) and April M. Szalajeski (Dana). Pat was the great-grandmother of Illyana Hernandez, Olivia Hernandez, and Aeryn Hernandez. She was the sister of Debra “Debbie” M. Pierce, the late James R. Mitchell, Jr., Shirley M. Toomer, Sandra M. Hammons, and Rose M. Graham. Pat will also be dearly missed by numerous foster children and grandchildren.
Pat worked in the St. Tammany Parish School System for 30 years. She loved her work in the cafeteria at Abita Springs where she was able to care for and nourish young minds.
Relatives and friends are invited to the Funeral Mass at St. Jane de Chantal Catholic Church, 72040 Maple St., Abita Spring, LA 70420 on Friday, November 9, 2018 at 12:00 Noon with visitation from 10:00 AM until Mass time. Interment will follow the service at Abita Springs City Cemetery, Abita Springs, LA. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Community Care Hospice, (985) 340-1880.
