Pam and I were undergraduate classmates at UNO. She played piano at a Friday afternoon student recital on the first composition I had performed. She later performed on my masters composition recital in 1985 as an accompanist on three art songs. At the end of the performance of the songs, a member of the audience leaned over to me and said, "That was gripping." I thought at that time, and today, that the art songs were the highlight of the recital. No subsequent performance of the songs created so strong an audience impact. Pam had intuitive musical instincts that allowed her to merge the intentions of a composer with the potential of a performer to create a dramatic experience for the listener. She was an astounding talent. My last contact with Pam was at the time of the Le Petit Theater performance of "Scrooge". She provided free tickets to me and my young niece. Pam will always hold a special place in my heart.
My sympathies are with Pam's family.
