Oren D. Bailess, Jr.'s Obituary
Oren D. “Butch” Bailess, on Saturday, February 17, 2006.
Butch, a native of Vicksburg, MS, attended Tulane University on a football scholarship, earning his Civil Engineering degree in 1972. An avid sportsman, excellent gourmet cook, actor and vocalist, he was President of Gulf Concrete, LLC and had recently accepted the position of Vice-president of Dunn Investments in Birmingham, AL.
He is survived by his wife, Sheila Maddox, MD; three sons, Jason S. Bailess (Kelda), Oren D. “Bucky” Bailess, III, and Brett A. Bailess; his grandchildren, Chloe L. and Wesley O. Bailess; his parents, Oren D. and Betty Ann Dement Bailess, his grandmother, Ruby Wiltshire Bailess; his brother, Robert R. “Bobby” Bailess (Natalie), four sisters, Catherine B. Newton (John), Judy B. Nasif (George), Susan B. Mims (Johnny), and Ginger B. Richardson; and numerous nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his grandparents Russel F. and Doris Kaiser Dement and Robert O. Bailess.
Relatives and friends of the family are invited to attend a Celebration of his Life on Sunday March 4, 2007 at 4:00 PM at St.Timothy United Methodist Church, 335 Asbury Dr., Mandeville, LA 70471.
Visitation will be at 3:00 PM AT THE CHURCH, with a reception to follow services. Butch was instrumental in developing the Concrete Industrial Management (CIM) program at Middle Tennessee State University.
In lieu of flowers, memorials can be made to the MTSU CIM Building Fund, c/o Dr. H. Brown, P.O. Box 19, Murfreesboro, TN 37132 or to NorthCross United Methodist Church, Madisonville, LA.
