Oliver Francis "Red" Davis' Obituary
Oliver Francis “Red” Davis a 22 year Mandeville resident passed away on Sunday, May 8, 2011.
Oliver was born November 27th 1930 to the late Oliver and Emma Mae in Alexandria, LA. He was a beloved husband and father, his humor, charm and personality brightened the world of everyone he came in contact with. He is survived by his wife of 51 years, Janice Golemi Davis; his children, Michael and Catherine Davis Abraham and her husband Buddy; and grandsons, Rhett Abraham and his wife Maria Miller, Hunter and Cole Abraham.
After graduating at 16 from Jesuit High School, Red briefly attended Loyola before serving in the U.S. Navy during the Korean Conflict. He completed his education at USL and worked in sales and marketing before enjoying a career with McDermott working in New Orleans and the Middle East. After retiring, Oliver worked on the Northshore for the Times Picayune where he was loved and respected by those he serviced. Red was his happiest following his grandson’s sports activities at St. Paul’s, Salmen, Northshore and NSU. He frequently visited his son in Las Vegas and Antigua, his second homes. Oliver and his family would like to thank all the health care professionals, especially those at Lakeview Regional and R&R Home Care that helped him live a full enjoyable life.
Relatives and friends are invited to the Funeral Mass at E.J. Fielding Funeral Home, 2260 W. 21st Avenue, Covington, LA 70433 on Thursday, May 12, 2011at 1:00 PM with visitation on Thursday from 10:00 AM until Mass time.
Interment will follow in Mandeville Cemetery.
