Olive Thelma Mayer Murrell's Obituary
Olive Thelma Mayer Murrell, age 98, died at home in Covington, LA on Friday January 5, 2007.
Born in Tampa, FL, she was a direct descendent of Francis Asbury Hendry, the founder of Fort Myers, Florida.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Henry Baldwin Hyde Mayer and Daisy Lee Hendry, as well as by her two husbands, Francis Daniel Lowe and Robert Murrell.
She is survived by her three daughters, Evelyn Lowe Bates and husband William of Naples, FL, Daisy Lowe Beck and husband Henry of Covington, LA, and Susan Lowe McKinney and husband Alexander of Waynesville, NC.
She is also survived by nine grandchildren and fifteen great-grandchildren.
Mrs. Murrell worked for many years as an executive for the Florida State Board of Health in addition to providing the sole care of her daughters following the untimely death of her first husband. In the past she was an active member of the Daughters of the American Revolution and All Saints Episcopal Church of Jacksonville, Florida. She was a member of Faith Presbyterian Church of Covington, LA.
The family will receive visitors at 12:00 noon on Monday, January 8, 2007 at Faith Presbyterian Church 16330 Hwy. 1085 Covington, LA.
Funeral services to follow on Monday at 1:00 P.M. Internment at Oak lawn Cemetery in Jacksonville, FL.
In lieu of flowers donations may be given to Faith Presbyterian Church, PO Box 1360, Covington, LA 70434 or Hospice of St. Tammany 1201 S. Tyler St, Covington, Louisiana 70433. E.J. Fielding Funeral Home, Inc. Covington, LA in charge of arrangements.
