Ocie Lea Sharp Sowder passed away on Wednesday, March 24, 2021 in Covington, LA. She was born on August 15, 1926 in Covington, LA to the late Hezzie Vance Sharp and Dora King Sharp.
Ocie was the beloved wife of the late Merle Benjamin Sowder, who served the community as Minister of Music when called upon by any church in need. She was the loving mother of Billy G. Sowder (Brenda K. Barker Sowder), Gregory K. Sowder (Robin Songe Sowder), and Diana Sowder Taylor (the late Ottis “Jody” Taylor). Ocie was the proud grandmother of Melissa Sowder Glipa-Sahagun (Damien Glipa-Sahagun) and Mandy Sowder Lombard (Richard Lombard); step-grandmother of Al Roddy, Richard Roddy and Brian Roddy; great-grandmother of Jaden Lombard, Jude Lombard, Ezekiel Glipa-Sahagun, Moriah Glipa-Sahagun, Jonah Glipa-Sahagun, and Abigail Glipa-Sahagun. Ocie was the sister of Jennie Jenkins, the late Vivian “Dot” Crowell, Edward Sharp, Eva Nettles, and Vernie Nettles.
Relatives and friends are invited to the Funeral Service at Shepherd’s Care Ministries, 20115 LA-1081, Covington, LA 70435 on Monday, March 29, 2021 at 12:00 Noon with visitation from 10:00 AM until service time.
