Nodua Ann Dycus Ortiz's Obituary
Nodua Ann Dycus Ortiz passed away on December 6th, 2025. Mother of John A. Ortiz (spouse Janel) and Michael J. Ortiz (spouse Justine), Grandmother of Eric M. and Maria B. Ortiz, Sister of Michael B. Dycus and Mickey E. Dycus.
At age 77 years, she was preceded in death by her loving husband of 43 years, Juan de la Cruz Ortiz, her mother Nadine Montella Morgan Dycus, her father Earl McKinney Dycus, sister Dawn F. Dycus McAllester and brother Shawn W. Dycus.
Nodua grew up in Dyersburg TN where she met the love of her life, Juan, in an airport where they were both working. After marrying and settling down to raise their family in Belle Chasse LA, Nodua studied to become an elementary school teacher at Holy Cross College and held many positions in the Knights of Columbus’ Council #6357 Ladies Auxiliary. When the kids were older they moved to Bedico LA where she continued to work with her husband at various airfield jobs he held. Following her husband's death and a ten year career at a large retail chain where she held many jobs and worked her way up, she retired and spent the rest of her life being near her children, grandchildren, and surviving siblings in Covington LA, Dyersburg TN, and Glendive MT.
She enjoyed her garden, quilting, cooking, baking, the holidays and catching up with her friends and family. She prided herself on making sure when anyone visited her home that everybody had enough to eat and a little something to take home with them. Throughout her life, she spent almost every day trying to help someone through whatever challenge or event they were facing. She will be missed by all that knew her.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend the funeral services at E.J. Fielding Funeral Home, 2260 W 21st Avenue, Covington, LA 70433 on Tuesday, December 30, 2025, at 11:00 AM with visitation on Tuesday beginning at 9:00 AM.
