Newman F. Gaines' Obituary
Newman F. Gaines passed away peacefully at home on Monday, May 29, 2017. A native of St. Tammany Parish, he was born on Tuesday, December 6, 1939 the second son to Annie Anderson Gaines and lived in Folsom for many years before moving to Slidell in 1969.
The beloved husband of the late Carolyn Tyrney Gaines, he is survived by four children - B. Keith Gaines (Nancy), D. Wayne Gaines (Rosemary), Sheri Gaines Sinopoli (Keith Morris) and Misti Gaines St. Pierre (Jerry); his brother - Alfred M. Gaines (late Sarah); three sisters - Elaine Gaines Tyrney (Lynn Rivet), Merty Gaines Fitzmorris (Ricky) and Myrtlelee Gaines Hyatt (Danny); nine grandchildren - Allison Gaines Gibson (Scott) and Amanda Gaines Vigreux (Ryan), Kevin W. (Ashlee), Christopher J. and Caleb A. Gaines, Franki Sherri Hunt (Jules, Jr.), Joshua D-J. St. Pierre, Josiah C. and Rome'a N. St. Pierre; and five great grandchildren - Madison L. and Sadie L Gibson, Harper and Ila Gaines and Jules Lincoln Hunt III.
His parents precede him in death.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend funeral services at 2:00 PM on Saturday, June 3, 2017 at E.J. Fielding Funeral Home, 2260 W. 21st Ave. Covington, LA 70433.
Visiting hours on Saturday will begin at 12:00 Noon.
Interment at the Douglas Cemetery in Madisonville, LA will immediately follow services.
