Natilia "Tillie" Burns Shows' Obituary
Natilia (Tillie) Burns Shows passed away on Thursday, December 24, 2020 at the age of 85. Beloved wife of the late Frank Clay Shows. Loving mother of Selletta Diane Shows Donahue, Donna Wynn Shows Roussel, Sharon Renee Shows Mulkey and Carla Lanee Shows Buchholz. Daughter of the late Lillie Ruth Miles Burns and William Vernon Burns. Sister of Dorothy Jean Burns Lazarus and Josephine Burns Colle. Grandmother of thirteen grandchildren; Trese Bakker, Jessica Jimmerson, Trey Roussel, Tony Mulkey, Jennifer Pellegrin, Kara Adams, Alex Roussel, Greg Donahue, Colin J. Buchholz, Jr., Josh Buchholz, Catherine Hobbs, Mitchell Mulkey and Bailey Nash. She was the great-grandmother of 28 as well as two on the way.
Natilia (Tillie) Burns Shows was born on January 3, 1935 in Pulaski, Mississippi. As a young girl, Tillie moved to Pascagoula with her family. Tillie met the love of her life, Frank Shows. They married on December 21, 1949. Tillie was a housewife and mother to her four daughters. After moving to Mandeville, LA she began a career in real estate. Her strong Christian faith led her to become an active leader in the Methodist church. Tillie was a founding member of St. Timothy’s Methodist Church. She was honored as the recipient of Woman of the Year for United Methodist Women in 2006. Tillie was the education and interpretation coordinator for the Louisiana UMW conference. She served on the UMW Mission Team which is the governing body for Louisiana UMW. Tillie was invited as a guest preacher to area churches. She was a charter member for the Krewe of Eve and was a float lieutenant for 25 years. Tillie reigned as the Queen Eve XIII. She organized a bridge club that is still active and was a member of the Red Hat Society.
Due to COVID-19, social distancing is encouraged and masks are required to attend services.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend the funeral services at St. Timothy United Methodist Church, 335 Asbury Drive, Mandeville, LA 70448 on Saturday, January 2, 2020 at 12:00 Noon with visitation at church on Saturday beginning 10:00 AM.
Interment will follow in Mandeville Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations in memory of Mrs. Shows to be made to the Alzheimer’s Association www.alz.org .
