Nancy Bosworth Reed's Obituary
Nancy Bosworth Reed, age 72, passed away peacefully surrounded by her family on Mother’s Day, May 13, 2018. She has lived in St. Tammany for most of her life. She was carried from this world on the wings of angels to be with her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, for whom she lived her Christian life. She is without question overjoyed and in her glory to be able to stand hand in hand with Him now.
Mrs. Reed was born in New Orleans, Louisiana, on October 6, 1945, the second child of Jane Wood Bosworth (1908-2006) and Robert John Bosworth, Sr. (1908-1972). She lived in Metairie, Louisiana, along with her sister, Rosalind (1941-1995), and her brother, Robert Jr. (1947-1989), until her family moved to St. Tammany Parish in 1950. She attended both St. Peter School (Class of ’59) and St. Scholastica Academy (Class of ’63) in Covington, Louisiana.
Ms. Reed earned both her B.A. and M.Ed. from Southeastern University in Hammond, Louisiana, and taught in local school systems for thirty years. She was a member and officer of the St. Tammany Parish Hospital Guild for 3 years from 2010-2013 after retiring from her career in education. She also served on the board of Young At Heart at First Baptist Church where she was a member of the church and the Ogea Adult Bible Fellowship Class. Ms. Reed then spent four years teaching her little angels at Mothers Day Out at First Baptist.
Ms. Reed is survived by her three daughters, Angela Palermo (Darryl), Marcella Comeaux (Calvin), Anita Gaudet (Brett), and one son, Vincent Fonseca (Amy). She is also survived by 12 grandchildren, Lauren Reynolds (Murray), Brennan Womack (Kellie), Brett Palermo (Rachel), Victoria Palermo, Alexandra Comeaux, Simone Comeaux, Hannah Gaudet, Abigail Gaudet, Ellen Fonseca, Millicent Fonseca, Amanda Fonseca, and Gabriel Fonseca. She also leaves behind 6 great grandchildren, three nieces, two nephews, two grand nieces, and two grand nephews.
A Memorial Service will be held at First Baptist Church, 16333 LA Hwy. 1085, Covington, LA 70433 on Wednesday, May 16, 2018. Visitation for family and friends will be from 11:00 am to 1:00 pm in Central Hall (the old Worship Center) followed immediately by the Memorial Service at 1:00 pm.
The family suggests that, in lieu of flowers, donations in memory of Ms. Reed, be made to the First Baptist Church of Covington Building Fund.
