Nancy Faye Stakke Bauer's Obituary
Nancy Faye Stakke Bauer went to be with the Lord December 28, 2020.
She will be greatly missed by all those who knew this humble, gracious and giving wife, mom, mom-in-law, Grama and friend.
Nancy was born in Mitchell, South Dakota on February 4, 1931 to the late Harry and Florence Stakke.
She spent her childhood in Woonsocket, South Dakota, graduating from Woonsocket High School in 1949. Nancy went to college at the University of South Dakota, graduating in 1953. She met her soon-to-be husband of sixty-six years, Gordon, while working at the state capital in Pierre, South Dakota. They later had three children while moving around the country working in the oil field. Nancy played the organ at different churches that they were members of, with the longest being Aurora United Methodist in New Orleans where she played for 30 years. When moving to Mandeville, LA, she came out of retirement and continued to play for several more years.
Nancy was a member of PEO for 71 years, holding positions of every kind including chapter president more than once.
She was also extremely talented in the Arts. Among some of her talents were creating stained glass, exquisitely detailed needlework, and beautiful rugs to name a few.
Nancy is preceded in death by her parents, Harry and Florence, step-mother, Margaret, and sister, Harriet Noble (Bob).
Nancy is survived by her beloved husband, Gordon, and her children, Steve (Kyle), Trudy (John), and Andy. She is also survived by her five beloved grandchildren, Jessie (Heath), Heidi (Scott), Seth, Chase, and Grace. She was blessed with four great-grandchildren, Sam, Mills, Rodi and Drake.
