Will Miss you, Aunt Myrtle.
Dear Gracie,
I was saddened by the news I received the other morning of your passing. But I realized after sitting there for a moment of the wonderful life you had. And that like all great things this must come to an end. I thought back to my life as early as I can remember of playing cars on the floor in your kitchen. Let’s not forget all the time we played cards or yahtzee. You did share one thing from your earlier years that I still cherish to this day. You called them “Poorman’s Grits”, it was grits with a lil bacon, onion, and bacon grease with some tomatoes. I make myself a bowl every now and then just to slip back in time. It let me go back to a simpler time and get away from the pressures of the day. There is not a day I don’t think of you and Grandpa. One of the hardest days in my life was in August 1984, the day I left for the army. Yes it was a new experience in life, but it was leaving the comfort of a world I had grown up in. I know this is only a few of the fond and not so fond memories that we have. But I will always love you and hold a special place in my heart.
Love, Flip
If I'm right, I believe we used to live next door to Mr. and Mrs. Leveson when I was a young child on Hickory Street. I remember her being very kind and introducing us to REAL homemade hot chocolate. I still make it like that now and remember her every time I do it. My kids and their friends LOVE my/our hot chocolate. My sincerest sympthies for a wonderful lady.
Ingrid, Cynthia & family, I, along with Andre' Jr. and Shaun are so sorry to hear of your mom's passing. I know she is up in Heaven singing her praises to the Lord, and can hear that "Wabash Cannon Ball" rolling by right now. She was truly a wonderful lady, and will be greatly missed by all who knew & loved her, and ANYONE who knew her, LOVED her. You are in my thoughts and my prayers. Ingrid, please email me. Love, Linda
My sympathy goes out to the family.
Im regret to inform everyone that my mother,Ingrid my brother,Flip and our children Robbie & Mardi Monier and Cassidy Walters where unable to attend due to weather and lack of information as to when the services where to be held. Sadly I found out all the funeral arrangements via facebook and it was too late for us to make our way down to Abita in time. Robbie,Mardi and Cassidy will miss their great grandmother dearly. I send my condolences to my mother Ingrid and her sister for their loss.
I remember Mayor and Mrs. Leveson from my days in Abita Springs. We moved into the Guest House of the Long Branch Hotel in August of 1961 and walked into Abita daily. Many fond memories. May God keep you in His Hands.
Auny Myrtle's smile will be missed. I will always regret the time we were not able to spend together. HAVE FUN SINGING WITH THE ANGELS. We love you very much and we will miss you.
