I was blessed to work with Millie on the Sacred Heart Formation to Mission, where she led by her example of peace and goodness for us all. Millie was a truly dedicated teacher, and it was clear how much her students loved her. She has left a wonderful mark on all who knew he - parents, students and

Gary and Julie, I am so sorry for your loss. I understand how difficult this time is for you both. Take comfort knowing that as time moves on things will be better, but she will not be forgotten.
During 14 years of enjoying our time together teaching at Sacred Heart, I have many memories of Millie’s thoughtful, kind nature and her brilliance in the classroom. However, when I learned of her passing, one kindness came immediately to mind. I headed for my bedroom to find the teddy bear she gave me when I received my doctorate from the University of New Orleans in 2002. I gathered him up with his little blue t-shirt that reads, “Someone at UNO Loves Me” and hugged the cute bear, just as I hugged Millie the last time we were together. My heartfelt condolences go out to Gary and the family.
My heartfelt prayers go out to the Thomas family. She was such a dear sweet soul. I am reminded of the profound impact she made on hearts and in her classroom.
Millie was more than just a colleague; she was a cheerleader, guiding us through the joys and challenges of teaching with unwavering passion and dedication. Together, we both embarked on countless projects, each one a testament to her creativity, vision, and unwavering commitment to education.
Among the many endeavors we shared, one stands out with particular fondness—the annual production of the timeless classic, "A Christmas Carol." From rehearsals to production, my friend poured her heart and soul into bringing Dickens' beloved characters to life on stage. Her enthusiasm was infectious, igniting a spark of creativity in all who had the privilege of being in the annual Scrooge play.
But beyond the activities, what truly defined our friendship was the simple yet profound act of always touching base before parting ways for the evening. Whether it was sharing a quick update on a project, offering a word of encouragement, or simply exchanging a warm smile, we made it a point to connect with each other before the day drew to a close and always said our favorite catchline; “There’s always tomorrow.”
In their presence, her students found comfort, inspiration, and unwavering support. She served not only as a mentor but also a confidant, a source of wisdom (those Mrs. Thomas talks), and a steadfast companion on this journey called life.
As I navigate the bittersweet reality of her absence, I take solace in the countless memories I shared and the indelible imprint she left on hearts. Though she may no longer walk among us, her spirit lives on in the lessons she taught, the lives she touched, and the love she shared.
To my dear Mille, may your memory be a blessing, and may your legacy continue to inspire generations of students whose lives you touched. Rest in peace, and know I will meet you at the close of my earthly day and for sure we will say again “There’s always tomorrow.”
Millie was one of several exemplary teachers who guided me through my first years as an educator at Sacred Heart, and for that I remain most grateful. Her passion for literature was clear, but it was her absolute devotion to each of her students that left its mark on me and scores of students who were fortunate enough to find themselves in her classroom.
