Mildred "Millie" Doran Thomas' Obituary
Mildred “Millie” Doran Thomas entered eternal rest on April 14th, 2024, at the age of 76. Born in New Orleans on March 17, 1948, she was a true St. Patrick’s Day blessing to her Irish Catholic family and celebrated her love for the holiday each year. In New Orleans, Millie attended St. Dominic Catholic School, Mount Carmel Academy, and the University of New Orleans, where she received her undergraduate and Master's degree in Education.
For over 40 years, Millie's commitment to education left an enduring mark on her students. In 2017, after a 25 year tenure at the Academy of the Sacred Heart, she retired from teaching. Her students share fond memories of her annual production of “Scrooge,” her passion for literature, and most of all her kind and loving spirit.
She was a loving and devoted wife, mother, and grandmother. She was fiercely dedicated to her Catholic faith, and she lived her life as an example of how faith can bring peace and light to those around her. She is survived by her loving husband, Gary Thomas; her children David Thomas (Norma), Stephen Thomas (Jenn), and Julie Rose (Andrew); her grandchildren Gabriel Taviani, Reece Thomas, Tyler Rose, Riley Rose, and brother Joe Doran.
A visitation will be held at Mary Queen of Peace Catholic Church, 1501 W Causeway Approach in Mandeville, on April 19, 2024, at 11 AM, followed by a Funeral Mass at 12 PM. The funeral mass will be followed by interment at St. Joseph’s Abbey Cemetery in Covington, Louisiana.
E.J. Fielding Funeral Home has been entrusted with funeral arrangements. The Thomas family invites you to share thoughts, fondest memories, and condolences online at E. J. Fielding Funeral Home Guest Book at www.ejfieldingfh.com.
