Mike Fernandez's Obituary
Dr. Mike Fernandez died on Monday, August 24, 2009 in Birmingham, Alabama after a long battle with lung disease. He was 62 years old. Born to Adele Molero Fernandez and the late Frank M. Fernandez, Jr., he grew up in St. Bernard Parish and was a resident of St. Tammany Parish where he practiced dentistry for the last 24 years.
He is survived by his wife of 38 years, Suzanne Schafer Fernandez; his daughter, Dr. Michelle Christine Fernandez; one son, Todd Michael and his wife, Natalie Letlow Fernandez. He is also survived by his sister, Dr. Maria Fernandez Snitzer.
Mike attended St. Bernard High School, and then went on to graduate from the Loyola School of Dentistry in 1970. Upon graduation he served as a lieutenant in the U.S. Navy for two years. Mike was an avid and accomplished fisherman, hunter, golfer and exercise enthusiast. Mike cherished, above all, his time with family and friends. He enjoyed a close, personal relationship with his Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. Because of that, all of us are sure that we will be reunited with Mike soon.
Relatives and friends of the family are invited to attend funeral services at 11:00 AM on Thursday, August 27, 2009 at Faith Bible Church, 1117 N. Columbia St. Covington, LA 70433.
Visiting hours at the church will begin at 9:00 AM.
Interment will be private.
