Michelle Dupre Bel's Obituary
Michelle Dupré Bel, 58, of Mandeville, LA passed away peacefully on Thursday, August 2, 2018. She was born on March 16, 1960 in New Orleans, LA to the late Arthur Dupré, Sr. and Gertrude Richards.
Michelle is survived by her beloved husband, F. Arthur Bel, Jr.; her children Justin, Ryan, Meghan B. Sumrall (John); and her newest grandchild Joshua.
Michelle is preceded in death by her parents Arthur and Tudie Dupré.
Michelle grew up in Bucktown with her siblings Arthur “Dev” (Shirley), David (Susan), Richard ”Dickie” (Christy) and Michael (Stacie). She graduated from Mt. Carmel High School in 1978 then earned her nursing degree from Charity School of Nursing in 1981. She married Arthur in 1984 and recently celebrated 34 years of marital bliss. She often said that every day with Arthur was just like being on her honeymoon. She lived her entire married life in Mandeville.
She loved her career as a Registered Nurse especially with her work family at St. Tammany Hospital. She cherished her time raising her three children and was proud of the wonderful adults they have become. She enjoyed holidays with her extended family, cheered for all SEC football games especially the LSU Tigers, and was never seen without a Diet Coke. She was known to her many nieces, nephews, great-nieces, great-nephews and many others as “Nanny”.
The family wishes to thank everyone who was involved in her care, mostly Dr. Jack Saux and Sydney Fabian Fussell, PA, as well as the many nurses and staff at the treatment center and radiology center at St Tammany Hospital. Your smiling faces and utmost compassion were so deeply appreciated. St Tammany Hospice, specifically Cheryl Bays, was a tremendous support in Michelle’s final days. As for the many loving people who helped care for Michelle, cooked and provided endless meals, and prayed for her and her family will forever be in the hearts of the family.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend the Memorial Mass at Our Lady of the Lake Catholic Church on Tuesday August 7, 2018 at 1:30 PM with visitation at the Church from 11:30 AM until Mass at 1:30 PM. Interment to follow at St Joseph Abbey in Covington.
