Michel "Bobby" Barbary LaGrange's Obituary
Michel "Bobby" Barbary LaGrange passed away peacefully with his wife and family at his side on Tuesday September 5th, 2017 at the age of 79.
He was born in Cecilia, LA on Tuesday April 12th 1938 to Virginia Nazat and Jean Wilfred LaGrange. He resided in Kenner, LA for 37 years until relocating to Bush, LA in 2003.
The beloved husband of 57 years to Judith Naquin LaGrange, he is survived by two loving daughters -Sharon LaGrange Benfatti (Gerard) and Michele Lynn Anselmo; his granddaughter - Selina Brooks; two great grandsons - Mason and Dylan; three brothers - Tony Huggins (LeeAnna), Paul Huggins (Cindy) and John "Buddy" Huggins (Lynn); and one sister - Jackie Kelley (Danny). His brother-in-law - Noel "Butch" Naquin and sister-in-law - Louise "Pepper" Hall also survives him. His parents and one sister-in-law- Marilyn Szabary preceded him in death.
He joined the Navy in 1955 as a Gunners Mate and served during the Korean War. He then served in the US Naval Reserve for six more years. He was a very proud US Navy Veteran. He retired from Paretti Imports as their Parts Manager and went on to work as Vault Manager for Wells Fargo Armored Car Services, a career from which retirement came early due to illness. Bobby spent the remainder of his life vacationing in Gatlinburg, TN where he loved the outdoors and took many cruises with his wife and family. Bobby was a loving husband, dedicated father and grandfather whose main focus was family. His family has many treasured moments and memories of him. He was also a friend to everyone. He loved his dog Reba who never left his side.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend the funeral mass at 12 Noon on Monday, September 11, 2017 at E.J. Fielding Funeral Home, 2260 W. 21st Ave. Covington, LA 70433
Visiting hours will begin Monday at 10:00 AM.
Interment at the Southeast Louisiana Veterans Cemetery in Slidell will take place Tuesday, September 12, 2017 at 10:00 AM.
