Michael Peter Wigginton's Obituary
Michael P. Wigginton passed away on Thursday, March 20, 2008.
Beloved husband of 62 years of Shirley Hymel Wigginton; father to Michael Wigginton, Jr and his wife Lisa and Raymond Wigginton; grandfather to Rebecca and Cristine Wigginton; and great-grandfather to Zachary Jolet. Also survived by several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his mother, Mary Pfaadt Wigginton Vivian; his father, George H. Wigginton; three brothers, George, Joseph and James Wigginton.
Age 85 years, a native of New Orleans, LA, he was a resident of Covington, LA and a former resident of Mandeville, LA. He was a retired member of International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers, Local #130 and the Local #130 Retirees Club. Mr. Wigginton left during World War II to serve with the Washington Artillery as a Sergeant in the European Theater. He received the Purple Heart, the European Theater of Operations Medal, World War II Victory Medal, American Defense Service Medal and the Good Conduct Medal. He was also a member of the Washington Artillery Veterans Association, the Abita Springs VFW Post #8720, the American Legion Robert Burns Post #16 of Covington and a Life Member of the DAV.
Relatives and friends of the family are invited to attend the Funeral Mass on Monday, March 24, 2008 at 1:30 PM from the Chapel at E.J. Fielding Funeral Home Inc., 2260 W. 21st. Ave., Covington, LA 70433.
Visitation on Monday will begin at 10:00 AM.
Interment will follow in Pinecrest Memorial Gardens.
