Michael T. Stone Sr.'s Obituary
Michael T. Stone, Sr. passed away Saturday, January 3, 2026 at St. Tammany Parish Hospital in Covington, LA.
He was born in New Orleans, LA to parents Lyonel Francis Tollemache Stone and Mathilde Thomas Stone. Michael is survived by his wife Priestley, his sister Mathilde Stone, his children Michael, Jr. (Mary), Barton and Andrew, nieces Ashley and Mathilde Leary, nephew Prieur Leary, and granddaughter Elizabeth Louise Stone.
Michael graduated from LSU in Baton Rouge where he was a member of DKE fraternity. He returned to New Orleans where he earned his Juris Doctor degree from Loyola University.
Michael was an avid outdoorsman and wildlife conservationist. His early experiences in Louisiana led to hunting elk in Colorado and Idaho, exotics at the Two Dot Ranch in west Texas, the Yucatan, and twice went on safari in Africa. This community Michael and his hunting friends enjoyed had ongoing exchanges of game location, numbers spotted, variety available. It's a language known only to themselves, but instantly recognizable within the group.
Michael spent over 40 years as an attorney. He was an active member of the real estate and construction industry that has witnessed remarkable growth since Michael moved to Covington in 1978. His business associations and lifelong friendships coupled with his love for his family defined his life.

Friends and relatives are invited to attend the memorial service at Christ Episcopal Church, 120 S. New Hampshire, Covington, LA on Monday, January 12, 2026 at 1:00 PM with visitation beginning at noon in the Parish Hall. Interment will follow at St. Joseph Abbey.
