Michael James Springer's Obituary
Michael James Springer passed away at the VA Hospital August 2,2021 at the age of 75 1/2. He battled diabetes and Lewy Body Dementia and fought bravely these last 8 years. Unexpectedly, after a minor surgery, his underlying heart condition and sepsis caused his peaceful passing.
Mike was a US Navy and Seabee veteran serving from 1967-1972 with 3 Vietnam tours on a 13 man advisory team.
Mike was devoted to his wife Kathy of 43 years. They had twin daughters, Kimberly (Raymond) Talamo and Kristina Gould. Mike was the proud Pa to his 5 granddaughters: Michaela, Sophia, Johanna, Gianna and Stella.
He was a construction supervisor or in optical sales most of his life.
For those that knew him he loved his family, was quite the jokester, was an avid sports player and the best arm chair quarterback. Guess that’s why his yard was immaculate and looked like a ball field. He loved to spend time with family, to travel, dine with friends and tell many stories. Mike was a native of DeRuyter, NY and a resident of Covington, LA for 41 years. He was the son of the late Clarence (Margaret) Springer also of DeRuyter, NY and a brother to 8 siblings and had many nieces and nephews with their own families.
The family would like to thank the VA HPBC and his caregivers on his outstanding care they helped provide.
In lieu of flowers or donations, please pray for his family. He will be missed greatly.
Services were held privately at E. J. Fielding Funeral Home, 2260 W. 21st Avenue, Covington, Louisiana. At a later date, his celebration of life will be held with family and friends in NY.
