Michael Lee Sork's Obituary
OBITUARY
Michael Lee Sork, at the age of 59, entered eternal rest peacefully on Thursday evening, June 8, 2023, at East Jefferson General Hospital surrounded by his loving family. He was born in New Orleans, Louisiana, on January 17, 1964, to William Joseph Sork and Judith Schleeter Reed.
Michael was preceded in death by his father William Joseph Sork and grandparents Arthur F and Dorothy W Schleeter, John J and Ellen L Sork.
He is survived by his wife Karen Armstrong Sork of 27 years, his adoring children Felix Gort Jr (Julie), Brittany L Sork, Rebecca G Alvarez (Orlando), Ryan M Sork. Michael was the proud grandfather of Ashton, Mya, Aryanna, Anayiah, Isabel, Chloe, Lily, Hunter and Brooklynn, He is also survived by his adoring mother Judith S Reed and his siblings, Donna B Tramonte (Mike), Jody Bordelon, John A Sork, Richard J Sork (Marie), Brian J Schoelpple (Adrienne), Michelle S Ryan (Peter), his Godchild Dr Taylor R Jeansonne Lofton. He will be dearly missed by a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and wonderful lifelong friends.
Michael attended St. Stanislaus High School in Bay St. Louis, MS where he developed a strong foundation for his future endeavors. After completing his education, Michael pursued a career as a commercial electrician for Brown's Dairy, a role he embraced with dedication and skill for more than 10 years.
Michael was known for his easygoing personality and the genuine connections he formed with people. He had a remarkable ability to make others feel at ease in his presence, always wearing a warm smile that lit up the room. His charismatic nature made him a cherished friend to many and a joy to be around.
Music, food, and sports were among Michael's greatest passions. He often found joy in attending music and food festivals, where he could immerse himself in the rhythms and culinary talents of his beloved city. His enthusiastic support for LSU sports was evident by the many road trips to Baton Rouge to cheer the Tigers to victory.
Though Michael faced immense challenges in his battle with ALS, he never allowed it to define him. Instead, he approached each day with unwavering courage and grace, inspiring all who were fortunate enough to know him. His memory will continue to live on in the hearts of those he touched, and his spirit will forever remind us to cherish the moments we have and to embrace life with love and compassion. Michael's mantra was "Make it Matter" and he did that by living his best life.

Relatives and friends are invited to attend the funeral service at E. J. Fielding Funeral Home, 2260 W 21st Avenue, Covington Louisiana on Friday, June 23, 2023, at 2:00 PM with visitation beginning at 12:30 PM until service time. Interment will take place privately.
