Michael Leighton Phillips' Obituary
Michael Leighton Phillips passed away at the age of 31 on May 18th, 2014, of an aneurysm, at his residence in Brooklyn, NY.
He was born in Covington, LA on September 7th, 1982 to William and Sharon Phillips. He graduated from Mandeville High and received an academic scholarship to The George Washington University in Washington, D.C., where he graduated with honors, earning a Bachelor's Degree in International Relations. Michael is survived by his parents, retired Delta Air Lines Capt. Bill and Sharon Phillips of Mandeville; his brother, Brian Phillips of Brooklyn, NY; his maternal grandparents, Betty and Al Torricelli of Mandeville; two aunts, Vicki Townsend (Charles) of St. Rose, LA, and Bridget LeBlanc (Dalton) of Mandeville; and an uncle, retired Admiral Rick Phillips, USN (Julie) of Prince Frederick, MD, along with numerous cousins.
Services will be held at E.J. Fielding Funeral Home, 2260 W. 21st Ave., Covington, LA 70433 on Friday, May 30th, 2014 with visitation from 1:00 PM to 2:00 PM with a Mass following. Michael was a gentle soul who loved all creatures, great and small.
