Michael Patrick Moran Sr.'s Obituary
Michael Patrick Moran, Sr. was called home to Heaven on August 31, 2025, after a battle with pancreatic cancer.
Michael was born on November 18, 1949, in New Orleans, Louisiana, the eldest of 4 children born to Phillip and Anne Moran. He graduated from Chalmette High School in May of 1967, enlisted in the United States Navy in February of 1968, and served on the USS Ticonderoga during the Vietnam War. After the war, he began his apprenticeship with the International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers Local #130 in New Orleans. He worked as a Union electrician for the remainder of his career and at the time of his death was a 50-year member. In 1969, he married Sandra L. Cambas and had 3 children. They divorced in 1984. On May 15, 1993, he married Joyce Moran. Together they shared a family of his 3 children and 3 stepchildren. They remained happily married until his passing.
Michael enjoyed spending time with his children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren. He enjoyed fishing, old movies, Jeopardy, and talking about jobs he had worked on throughout his life.
Michael is survived by his loving wife, Joyce Moran; children, Sean J. Moran (Candice D. Guillot) and Timothy F. Moran (Brandy S. Moran); grandchildren, Mikaela M. Moran, Noran E. Moran, Sean C. Moran, Blair Naquin, Alexander J. Moran; great grandchildren, Avyana J. Henderson, Telvin D. Matthews, Kaycee B. Moran, Max H. Hilderbrand, Tripp J. Hilderbrand, Callum J. Payan, and Travis A. Guillot; stepchildren, Duane Field (Dawn Field), Richard G. Walsh, and Christina Mitchell (Danny Mitchell); step-grandchildren, Jamie L. Fry, Dayton T. Hendrix, Bradley S. Bakle, Tiffany Gill (Bradley Gill); and step-great grand-children, Aiden Daniel, Jackson Fry, Presley F. Hendrix, Brielle Bakle, Braxley Bakle, Bentley Gill and Brysen Gill. He is also survived by his mother, Ann Dufour, sisters, Mona M. Talabock (Donnie Talabock), Marsha A. Barocco (Gary Barocco); nieces and nephews, Christopher P. Talabock, Brandie L. Talabock, Kristen M. Barocco, Ashley L. Barocco and Mallorie N. Moran; and many extended family members and friends.
He is preceded in death by his father, Phillip J. Moran; brother, Mark D. Moran; son, Michael Moran Jr.; grandson, Michael Moran III; granddaughter, Jessica Fry; and life-long best friend, Michael Gunn.

Relatives and friends are invited to attend the memorial visitation on Saturday, October 4, 2025, from 9:00 AM until 11:00 AM at E. J. Fielding Funeral Home, 2260 West 21st Avenue, Covington, Louisiana, with a memorial service beginning at 11:00 AM. Interment will be held at a later date at Southeast Louisiana Veterans Cemetery, Slidell, Louisiana.
