Merle Bobo Cassisi Lyons' Obituary
Merle Bobo Cassisi Lyons passed away on Saturday, May 24, 2025. She was born in New Orleans, LA on May 10, 1929.
She is survived by her son, Scott Cassisi (Debbie); grandchildren, Stacy Couvillion Royer, Charles Scott Cassisi (Sarah), and Brandi Barattini (C. J.); great-grandchildren, Addison Royer, Charles “Chip” Cassisi, Jasmine Murphy, Illiana Murphy, and Camille Murphy; and many extended family members and friends.
She was preceded in death by two husbands, Charles Samuel Cassisi and Eli Lyons; children, Karen Cassisi Couvillion (Tommy) and Kenneth Cassisi; her parents, Vivian Stratton Bobo and Presley Bobo; and a brother, Harold Bobo.
Merle grew up in Metairie and graduated from Metairie High School. She worked as a hearing assistant for the social security administration until her retirement in 1995. She volunteered at St. Timothy on the Northshore for many years, specifically by folding bulletins for Sunday morning services and handing out desserts for Wednesday night dinners. She was also a longtime volunteer at Habit for Humanity, where she was affectionately known as “the bead lady” because she separated Mardi Gras beads after the parades each year. Her primary hobbies included cross-stitching and working puzzles. A loving wife, mother, grandmother, sister, and friend, she will be dearly missed by her family and friends.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend the funeral services on Sunday, June 1, 2025, at 1:00 PM at E. J. Fielding Funeral Home, 2260 West 21st Avenue, Covington, Louisiana, with visitation beginning at 11:00 AM. Interment will follow in Pinecrest Memorial Gardens.
