Melvin Ray McLain's Obituary
Melvin Ray McLain passed away October 30, 2010. He was born July 11, 1932 in Covington, LA to the late James Alton and Myrtis Loyde McLain.
The beloved husband of the late Elizabeth Hammond McLain, he is survived by his daughter, Mary Elizabeth McLain Saffell; son-in-law, Justin A. Saffell; three sisters: Leatte Sharp (Vic), Rosalie Sharp (Ruben) and Janice “Midge” Magee and two grandchildren: Isabelle and Andrew Saffell.
He grew up in Folsom and enlisted with the Navy in 1951. After a 20 year military career, he went to work at the Department of Defense for an additional 25 years as an electrical engineer. He moved back to the Folsom area upon his retirement in 1990.
Relatives and friends of the family are invited to attend the funeral mass at 10:00 AM on Friday, November 5, 2010 at E.J. Fielding Funeral Home, 2260 W. 21st Ave., Covington, LA 70433
A wake is scheduled for Thursday, November 4, 2010 from 6-9:00 PM with visiting hours beginning Friday at 9:00 AM.
Interment will immediately follow mass at the Blackwell Cemetery in Folsom.
