Melvin Morgan "Mark" Marquis' Obituary
Melvin Morgan “Mark” Marquis passed away on Monday, March 19, 2018 at the age of 93. Beloved husband of the late Merle Legendre Marquis. Loving father of Wanda Cournet (Paul), Reenie Kinney (Dee) and Terry Marquis (Janet). Son of the late Louise Gipson Marquis and George Numa Marquis. Brother of the late George, Floyd, Claire Ford, Cecile Deimel, and Shirley Willis. Grandfather of Jonathan Cournet, Nicole Driggers, Sara Pilot, Emily Golden, Kyle Marquis, and Natalie Marquis. Great-grandfather of Chase, Kinsley, Graham, Walt, Oliver, and Iris.
Mark proudly served his country during World War II. He was a Master Electrician by trade, and a proud member of the IBEW (International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers). He was also a certified welder and a natural mechanic, he could make or fix anything. He was an accomplished wood working craftsman. He made several pieces of furniture, which are in his home today. He also enjoyed woodturning in his later years. He was always willing to help a friend or neighbor in need of his skills and took great pride in doing so. He was deeply devoted to his wife, Merle, and always put family first. He enjoyed his grandchildren and great- grandchildren, and always looked forward to every visit. He loved to travel, to go camping, and fishing. Everyone loved Mark, Unc, PawPaw!
Relatives and friends are invited to attend the memorial service at E.J. Fielding Funeral Home, 2260 W. 21st Avenue, Covington, LA 70433 on Friday, March 23, 2018 at 2:00 PM with visitation on Friday beginning at 12:00 noon.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations in memory of Mr. Marquis to be made to the Parkinson Foundation www.parkinson.org .
