Melvin J. Gaspard's Obituary
Melvin Joseph Gaspard passed away on Sunday, January 3, 2016 in Mandeville, LA at the age of 84. Melvin was a native New Orleanian born during the great depression in 1931 and enjoyed sharing his many memories of growing up and working the streets of New Orleans as a taxi driver and business owner for over 55 years. He will always be remembered as a devoted family man with true dedication to his career.
The beloved son of the late Merlin D. Gaspard, Sr. and Marguerite Burges Gaspard, he is survived by three children - Marie Summers (John), Sandy Mitchell and Danny Gaspard (Carolyn); one brother - Robbie Gaspard; six grandchildren - Brigitte, Brittany, Bradley, Ashley, Nickie and Troy; four great grandchildren - Alexis, Emma, Cohen and Marissa; and numerous nieces and nephews. He was the former husband and friend to Marion S. Gaspard. He was preceded in death by one sister - Gladys Laville and one brother - Merlin Gaspard, Jr.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend the funeral mass at 12:00 Noon on Friday, January 8, 2016 at E.J. Fielding Funeral Home, 2260 W. 21st Avenue, Covington, LA 70433.
Visiting hours on Friday will begin at 10:30 AM.
Interment at Pinecrest Memorial Gardens in Covington will immediately follow mass.
