Melva was a very special lady and we were privileged to know her. You are in our thoughts and prayers. Luke and Sophia Holloway
We have many fond memories of Melva and Bob while spending weekends at our Covington house next door. They were so kind and welcoming, and very generous in sharing "the beach" and the river. We will especially remember Melva's constant smile and the twinkle in her eyes. Our sympathy to you and your family.
Coco and Robbie, I saw your lovely mother only a very few times over the past half-century, but every time I did I was impressed with her generosity, graciousness, and kind, gentle demeanor. She deserved the love and devotion you children gave her through the years, and I know she appreciated it greatly. May you be comforted in your loss by the best of your memories and the loving support of family and friends. Blessings, Allison (White) Ewoldt, Mack's elder sister
To Rob and Coco, Please know of my sincere and loving concern for all of Melva's dear family. My fondest memories of younger years include this remarkable and gracious lady. Our friendship began long before her children were born.Melva was my source of understanding and great assistance in times of my grief and family illness. When we were in business together, it was more fun than business. She inspired us all with her ability to rise above the tragedy in her life and show her strength of faith. In my ninety years of life, I have never known a more faithful friend than Melva. Please accept my sincere regrets and prayers for healing. Lib Neilson
Coco, Eleanor and Glenn offer their condolences in the loss of your Mother. Our thoughts and prayers are with you. Eleanor and Glenn Thomas
CoCo and Robbie, Your Mother is home now, reunited with her true love Mr. Bob, and her beloved Sidney. When Ricky and I were entertained out at SilverDew for a party once, It was like a scene from Gone With The Wind. I felt like Scarlett at 12 Oaks, and I'm sure this is when I decided it was ok to marry Ricky and move to Covington. Your family is just, well, nice! Sid was a great friend, and I still miss him everyday, but he took care of "Mama" and showed the utmost respect a Southern Gentleman could.I agree with Malcolm, it was an event to visit Silver Dew.....Even if Scout did chase me on top of the car once. Your Mother, Mrs. Melva, was kind, and patient, and I never tired of her stories. She accomplished so much even in her later years, and left you lots of warm memories, and twice as many recipes! We will continue to keep your family in our prayers.
My heart is filled with sadness at our loss, remembering such a beautiful person in my life! She was my best friend, and oh so good hearted, compassionate and liberal in everything she did. She was a great "Democrat" and a true blue Christian! She really helped me through some very rough times in my life with her therapy and deep friendship. I will miss her more than words can say! Peace be with you Melva. I loved you very much! And I know so many other people that loved you too. You were the greatest!
My thoughts and prayers are with the entire Cox family. I was blessed to spend time with Sid and to meet the Cox family. Sid and I actually did some "roof work" on the dog kennel one summer. Great memories.
God bless, Jimmy
I am Warren Illing's sister. He and Sid were best friends all through school. I met Mrs. Cox through Sid - Such a lovely lady. Please accept our sympathy. My mother Marcella Illing was a friend of Mrs. Cox also. I know she was sad to hear of her recent death. God Bless.
Robbie and Coco,
The two of you and our beloved Sid truly demonstrated the love of a child for his/her parent. A true testament of giving back what you first received and learned from your Mom and Dad.
What a gracious lady of the south she was. To arrive at Silver Dew for a visit with the Cox's was a special event, a privilege it seemed. And that wonderfully expectant, almost mystical feeling never changed from childhood to adulthood.
Thank you to the Cox's for the wonderful memories and your dedicated friendship for so many years.
May The Lord's Blessings be with you,
Malcolm
