Melba Elfer Colvin's Obituary
Melba Colvin, 98, of Mandeville, Louisiana, passed away June 24, 2013, surrounded in the love of family and friends.
She was born on Thursday, October 15, 1914, in Saint Rose, Louisiana, to the late Charles Maurice Elfer and Emma Weaver Elfer.
Loving wife of the late Samuel Harvey Colvin, Jr., she is survived by her sons, John Colvin of Albuquerque and Thomas Colvin of Mandeville, John's wife Karen Halliday, John's son Kennon Colvin and his wife Chamisa Colvin of Colorado Springs, Karen Halliday's sons, Colin and Timothy Halliday Sillerud of Albuquerque, and Kennon and Chamisa Colvin's children, Grey and Aidan Colvin of Colorado Springs.
She was a leader in preserving local history and environment, and a significant pioneer for aid to the handicapped. Warmly gracious and a great appreciator of the arts, she was truly a great lady, now much missed, but forever held close in the hearts of those who loved her.
