Max and I go way back to the early '70's where we met in a CCIM class in Houston. We made friends there, and our friendship deepened when I started leasing industrial properties in 1999.
Each time I would come to his office to borrow a key or pick up a lease, he would welcome me and tease me about a variety of things from our past. He was always a gentleman, had an impeccable reputation, and was a joy to do business with.
I will miss him very much, for he was one of the great ones that we all look up to.

Max was introduced to me in the late '80s when I first joined SIOR. Since then, and without fail, whenever he saw me, he made a point of coming across the room and saying hi. Always interested in what I was doing, not what he was doing. A true friend and perfect gentleman. I considered him friend and my heart is heavy about the loss of such a quality person. He will be missed by those whose lives he touched. My thoughts and prayers are with the entire Derbes family at this most difficult time.
