Maurice Dudley Galatas' Obituary
Maurice Dudley Galatas passed away on Saturday, June 13, 2009.
He was born June 22, 1916 in Madisonville, LA to the late Arthur H. and Estelle Juliat Galatas, was a long time resident of Arabi, LA and has been a resident of St. Tammany Parish for the past 3 ½ years.
The beloved husband of Doris Nelson Galatas and the late Doris Kreider Galatas, he is survived by one daughter, Gail G. Siciliano (Jack); his son, Maurice Dudley, Jr.; two step-daughters, Sandra S. Kyle and Patricia S. McDougal (Patrick); his step-son, Milton Schaeffer (Kathy); nine grandchildren and 14 great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by five brothers: Arthur, Jr., Jessie, Henry, George and John Galatas; two sisters, Yvonne Alberstadt and Lorraine Henderson and one grandson, Nickolas Siciliano.
A veteran of the U.S. Army and P.O.W. during World War II, he received the Purple Heart and Bronze Star for distinguished service to his country’s freedom.
Relatives and friends of the family are invited to attend the funeral mass at 12:00 Noon on Monday, June 15, 2009 from the Chapel at E.J. Fielding Funeral Home, 2260 W. 21st Ave., Covington, LA 70433.
Visiting hours will begin Monday at 10:00 AM.
Interment will take place at the Mandeville City Cemetery following mass.
