Maureen Elizabeth Sheane Sexton's Obituary
Maureen Elizabeth Sheane Sexton was born February 8, 1938, at Baptist Hospital in New Orleans, LA. The same hospital her brother Eddie was born 3 years earlier. Maureen was the daughter of James Elmer Sheane of Manitoba, Canada and Doris Maurine Clay of Little Rock, Arkansas. She loved her family and friends very much and always was a generous loving person to all. Maureen met challenges head on and was an inspiration to many.
She is preceded in death by her parents, brother Eddie Sheane, his wife Yvonne and their son Mike Sheane.
She is survived by her family who were incredibly special to her. Son Billy T. Sexton Jr, (Melissa) his son Jakob and his daughter Meghan Andos (Logan) and her two children Margot and Daphne. Son James G. Sexton (Paula), his daughters Mary Elise Sexton, Shannon Scribner (Gil) and her two children Leo and Scarlett. Her oldest daughter Georgia Sexton Brown, DVM and her youngest daughter Susan Elizabeth Stephenson (Stuart) and her children Ben Newman and Emily James (Mark).
Maureen is a graduate of St Scholastica Academy and Valedictorian of her class in 1955. Following graduation from Charity Nursing school in 1959, she began a 40-year career as a nurse caring for her family and community. She loved the Mandeville area and was a lifelong resident.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend the funeral mass at Our Lady of the Lake Catholic Church, 312 Lafitte Street, Mandeville, LA 70448 on Friday, February 16, 2024, at 12:00 Noon with visitation beginning at 11:00 AM until service time. Interment will take place following the service at Peace Grove Cemetery, Horseshoe Island Road, Lacombe, LA.
