Maureen Sullivan Fuzy's Obituary
Maureen Sullivan Fuzy also known as Queenie, Momma, Granny, and Mrs. Fuzy, was born on August 25, 1954, in New Orleans, LA to Henry Ward Sullivan and Helen Sullivan. She passed away on Friday, July 5, 2024. Maureen was one of a kind and brought joy to everyone who was blessed to know her.
A graduate of Cabrini High School in 1972, she then furthered her education at LSU where she obtained her bachelor’s in education and later received her MBA from the University of Phoenix. Maureen dedicated her life to education. She taught in New Orleans for 8 years before moving to the Northshore where she taught at and retired from Bayou Lacombe Middle School. Her passion for education and her love for her students was felt by generations in the community of Lacombe. After retiring as a teacher, she continued her work as a Librarian, which allowed her to continue her passion for education and kept her involved in the community.
Maureen adored her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. She enjoyed being a part of school functions and sporting events. She lived for the moments she got to spend with her grandkids and great grandkids, spoiling them rotten with her time, her love, toys and an abundance of sweets. She enjoyed reading, shopping, cooking for the holidays and spending time with her girlfriends. She played Pokeno monthly with the same group of friends for the last 33 years. She was fun and loving with a unique personality. She loved collecting lady bugs, butterflies, and angels, amongst many other things. She was the rock in her family and made sure to keep in contact with family members near and far. She recently was able to live out her dream to travel to Alaska.
She is survived by her loving children, Adelaide (Geoffry) Faciane and Rebecca (Tyran) Driver, her grandchildren, Kevin, Layla, and Troy, and great-grandchildren, Levi and Leon. She is also survived by her brother’s Billy (Joel) and Harry (Maureen) and her twin brother Mike (Nell), along with a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and wonderful lifelong friends.
Maureen was preceded in death by her father, Henry, her mother, Helen, her sister, Tricia and her nephew Chuck.
Her departure comes as a great shock and a deep wound, and it is gravely felt by her entire family and countless others who loved her deeply. The family deeply appreciates your support during this difficult time and asks that in lieu of flowers you contribute by sharing memories of our beloved Maureen on our memorial website, www.ejfieldingfh.com.
