Matthew Jones' Obituary
Matthew Jones entered into eternal rest peacefully surrounded by his family on Wednesday, August 8, 2018 at the age of 89.
He was born on February 18, 1929 to the late Willie Jones and Felecia Tisdale Jones of Covington.
Beloved husband of the late Margaret “Peggy”Jean Galloway Jones. Loving father of Judith “Judi” Garrett, Matthew W. “Bill” Jones, Vicki J. Fussell (Eddie) and Cheri J. LaGrange (Eric). Brother of the late Walter Tisdale. Devoted grandfather of Lennox Jon, Anna, Jessica, Billy, Brad, Will, Jeffry, Erica, Jason, Meghan, Kaitlyn and seventeen great-grandchildren.
Mr. Jones was a native and lifelong resident of the Northshore, a U.S. Army veteran and retired from the Mandeville Police Department.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend the funeral services at E.J. Fielding Funeral Home, 2260 W. 21st Avenue, Covington, LA 70433 on Monday, August 13, 2018 at 11:00 AM with visitation on Sunday evening from 4:00 PM until 6:00 PM and on Monday morning from 9:00 AM until 11:00 AM.
Interment will follow in Pinecrest Memorial Gardens.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations in memory of Mr. Jones to be made to the American Cancer Society.
